They Won't Forget: Thrilling drama starts while pretty high school scholar is killed in Southern town. A gentleman is arrested, and a well known Northern attorney takes the case, however everyone appears more fascinated with capitalizing on personal desires than in due process. No punches are held in this still-commanding film. Lana Turner plays the unlucky gal, in her first big role. Field and Kline are a treat to watch playing larger than life characters, however Whoopi is trashed, Downey is miscast, and the script (by Robert Harling and Andrew Bergman) imagines "anxious" equals "funny." Cast includes Sally Field, Kevin Kline, Robert Downey, Jr., Cathy Moriarty, Whoopi Goldberg, Elisabeth Shue, Carrie Fisher, Garry Marshall, Teri Hatcher, Paul Johansson, Costas Mandylor, Stephen Nichols, Kathy Najimy, and Ben Stein. The Clubland: Youthful gentleman and his buddies set out to make it in the music industry by operating at a hip club on L.A.' s Sundown Strip, however they have to handle sleazy publicists and identity complications within the band. Modern-day music and trappings might camouflage, or defeat, a soggy tale that may have been made as a 1930s B film. Believe in me: Still another 1970s film that all about drug problems. Working gal Bisset finds herself completely dependant on speed while living in the East Village section of New York City. Cast includes Michael Sarrazin, Jacqueline Bisset, Jon Cypher, Allen Garfield, and Kurt Dodenhoff. (90 minutes, 1971)
Cry Terror: Quick moving film hides implausibilities in caper of psychopath Steiger pushing Mason to help him in master extortion plot that was filmed on N.Y.C. locations. Cast includes James Mason, Rod Steiger, Inger Stevens, Neville Label, Angie Dickinson, and Jack Klugman. (96 minutes, 1958)
