A Few Quick Film Synopses

by Brett Stanley

For years now, the video store was the way to get movies. Now, with internet usage exploding, movie downloads are becoming very popular. You will find just about any movie you want with a good movie download site, below is a small sample.

Boot Hill: Western ravioli representing another of the traditional teaming of blue-eyed, stone-jawed Hill and his bear of a associate Spencer. Trinity Rides Once more. Cast includes Terence Hill, Bud Spencer, Woody Strode, Winner Bono, Lionel Stander, and Eduardo Ciannelli. (87 minutes, 1969)

Remember The Titans: Herman Boone, a black man, is brought in to coach the Titans, a high school football team. The city is racially polarized, and a black coach is hard for many to accept. The high school team comes together and helps unite a divided community.

Gymkata: Winner acrobat Thomas megastars in this stupid martial arts potboiler, shot in Yugoslavia by the people who carried you Enter the Dragon. Amateurish stuff, based on Dan Tyler Moore's novel, The Detestable Game is a dud. Cast includes Kurt Thomas, Tetchie Agbayani, Richard Norton, and Edward Bell. (90 minutes, 1985)

Die Hard: In position to commit the perfect crime, terrorists have commandeered a Los Angeles high rise, and are holding everyone hostage. There is $460 million in the corporate safe that the terrorists want. Everything is going according to play. Uninvited, so the terrorists don't know he is there New York cop John McClane is the lone hope to stop the terrorists.

Dave: Dave looks exactly like the president. So, whenever the President doesn't want to attend a function, the secret service gets Dave and has him fill in. When the President suffers a stroke, Dave is asked to fill in, full time. The Chief of Staff, Bob Alexander, wants the Presidency for himself, so while Dave sits in he tries to maneuver himself into the Whitehouse.

Quiz Show: This tells the true story of the 1958 game show called 21. Charles Van Doren had become a national folk hero. He had appeared on the cover of Time, and Life magazines. People would watch the show in amazement, as the Columbia University English instructor would answer the most amazing and obscure questions. Then they got caught. The whole thing was a scam. Investigator Richard Goodwin unearthed all the facts, and exposed the deception. America was left in shock.

Let's Make Up Lila Says: A Marseille adolescent on the verge of manhood considers becoming an author, however he's broke, ghettoized, and pressured by his peers to prevail a loser till he meets a blonde bombshell who kindles his literary link, and then some. Faintly surreal myth of modern-day French-Arabian relationships stays lightweight and nymphet-fixated till its unavoidable bittersweet ending. Cast includes Valtina Giocante, Mohammed Khouas, Karim Ben Haddou, Lotfi Chakri, and Edmonde Franchi. (90 minutes, 2005)

The Prince and the Showgirl: Considerate although dull-moving comedy of saucy American show gal Monroe being courted by Prince Regent of Carpathia Olivier throughout the 1911 coronation of George V. Filmed in England, with admirable behaviors by Monroe and Olivier. Cast includes Laurence Olivier, Sybil Thorndike, Jeremy Spencer, and Richard Wattis. (117 minutes, 1957)

Airplane 2: Somewhat ludicrous rehash of Airplane (by a new author-director), however it couldn't match the amount, or premium, of chuckles in the first film. Numerous cameos appearances include Raymond Burr, Chuck Connors, and Sonny Bono. Cast includes Robert Hays, Julie Hagerty, Lloyd Bridges, Peter Graves, William Shatner, Chad Everett, and David Paymer. (85 minutes, 1982)

If your looking for downloads, type in "Movie Dowloads" to a search engine, see if you find something good. Different phrases get different results. If the last one did not work try something else. Try "Direct Movie Downloads" next.
